The Door of Life

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door

Northern Thai Food!

Having read many stories from other friends’ blog, I think all of them are sooo good. A lot of things they talked…a lot of critical thinking... Now, it’s my turn. I want to write about something not so serious. So, today, as I am the one who LOVE to EAT, I am going to talk about “food”.

What I’m going to point out today is about “Northern Thai food”.
Northern Thai foods are originally created in the Northern part of Thailand. Some of them are influenced by the Burmeses who live in Thailand’s neighbor country. Because Northern Thai region is full of fruits and vegetables, fresh seasonal vegetables are the main ingredients for the receipts. (I like it! The good fresh ingredients can create good combinations which make the foods good for health!) The daily meal of this region usually include steamed glutinous rice with chili paste such as "Namprik Noom" or "Namprik Oong" and some chili soups such as Geang Care Khai (chicken & mixed vegetables with a northern spices) and Geang Kanoon (Young Jackfruit Curry).

These are some pictures of Northern Thai food from Google and Teenee.com…

Do they look yummy? ^^

I also found a very interesting website about northern Thai food too. I’ll place it at the end of this blog for the one who want to get more information and see more yummy pictures!

Some of the Northern Thai food is not easy to cook. The foods have to be cooked delicately. Some even cause the cookers to go through many complex steps (all for the great delicious taste and less fishy.) For the ones who want to taste them, just follow what is said in the internet receipts is not enough to cook with the real taste of the Northern Thai.

Come to think of it…since there are some fast food and foreign foods which are more convenience, trendy and quick in our country at the moment…. since many modern people do not have much time to cook or even to teach their children to cook these local foods… now not many of the young adults and the new generations can cook Northern Thai foods (which need to take time to cook it). People who can cook this kind of food seem to be lesser and lesser. Well, at the present, many foreign countries are interested in our food but our local people care less and less about it. So, I am a bit worried. I start to wonder….what will happen if people all forget how to cook their own local food and start to search for the receipts in the internet? How funny it’ll be if in the future our local people have to learn to cook their local foods from foreigners? (Since foreigners love to know about our food more than ourselves)

What I want to say to the young northern Thai people is…come back and see what our local had! Northern Thai food shows Northern Thai Identity. Although now we can find some of the northern Thai foods in many places around the world, the real Northern Thai foods which cooked by Northern Thai people, putting in real Northern Thai ingredients are no where to be found except in our country, right? That’s why we should be proud of our food! ^^

BLACK METAL.. MY FAVOURITE KIND OF MUSIC

Have you ever heard of Black Metal? Well.. I guess some of you may be familiar with this kind of music but some of you may not. This kind of music is my favorite kind of music which brings lots of emotional feelings through me.

Black metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal. It often uses fast tempos, shrieked vocals, highly distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, blast beat drumming, and unconventional song structure.

Black metal has been met with great hostility from mainstream culture, mainly due to the misanthropic and anti-Christian standpoint of many artists. Moreover, a handful of musicians have been linked with church burnings, murder or National Socialism. For these reasons and others, black metal is often seen as an underground form of music.
For Instrumentation, Black metal guitarists usually favour high-pitched guitar tones and a great deal of distortion.Typically, the guitar is played with much use of fast tremolo picking. When writing music, guitarists often use scales, intervals and chord progressions that yield the most dissonant, fearful and ominous sounds. Guitar solos and low guitar tunings are rare in black metal.

The bass guitar is rarely used to perform stand-alone melodies. It is not uncommon for the bass guitar to be inaudible or to homophonically follow the bass lines of the electric guitar. Typically, drumming is fast-paced and uses double-bass and/or blast beat techniques; although basic drumming is not uncommon.

Black metal songs often stray from conventional song structure and often lack clear verse-chorus sections. Instead, many black metal songs contain lengthy and repetitive instrumental sections.
For vocal and lyrics, traditional black metal vocals take the form of high-pitched shrieks, screams and snarls. This is in stark contrast to the low-pitched growls of death metal. Most black metal singers are male, although there are a few notable exceptions.

The most common and founding lyrical theme is opposition to Christianity and other organized religions (called "Right-Hand Path" religions by some). As part of this, many artists write lyrics that could be seen to promote atheism, antitheism, paganism and Satanism. Other oft-explored themes are depression, nihilism, misanthropy and death. However, many modern black metal lyrics have begun to focus more on the seasons (particularly winter), nature, mythology, folklore, philosophy and fantasy.

Unlike artists of other genres, many black metal artists do not perform concerts. Bands that choose to perform concerts often make use of stage props and theatrics. Mayhem and Gorgoroth among other bands are noted for their controversial shows; which have featured impaled animal heads, mock crucifixions, medieval weaponry, and band members doused in animal blood.

Black metal artists often appear dressed in black with combat boots, bullet belts, spiked wristbands, and inverted crosses/inverted pentagrams to reinforce their anti-Christian or anti-religious stance. However, the most stand-out trait is their use of corpse paint – black and white makeup (sometimes mixed with real or fake blood), which is used to create a corpse-like appearance.

These are my favorite black metal bands.. enjoy!!
